CALDECOTT LANE CLEAN-UP BEHIND 142 CALDECOTT LANE
APRIL 20, 2013

The volunteers at 142 Caldecott Lane will be cleaning up construction debris shown:

Volunteers should be very careful since some of the wood debris has exposed nails.  Wood with nails will need to be sorted out and the nails hammered down before being placed in the dumpster.

Also watch for poison oak.  For those volunteers who are allergic to poison oak, please purchase Technu at your nearby Walgreens or CVS store and bring it with you along with a washcloth and a small towel.  You'll want to wash any skin exposed to the plant oils within ten minutes of exposure. Also purchase an antihistamine product like Allegra non-drowsy formula.  If you are exposed, take Allegra or a similar product for a few days to quell any allergic reaction.

Volunteers will be using pitchforks to remove and bag landscape cuttings dumped into the storm drain behind 142 Caldecott Lane.

This storm drain (see below) travels underneath the building and out to the street.  Although the City of Oakland Storm Drain Maintenance has inspected the drain, they are also aware that we are working to clean it of vegetation. It's very important to clean this drain to help prevent flooding in the building during a hard rain.
